Special Educator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Special Educator to join our team. As a Special Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will assess students' strengths and needs through observation, testing, and collaboration with teachers and other specialists.
  • You will develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure students receive tailored support.
  • You will adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate various disabilities, promoting inclusive learning environments.
  • You will provide one-on-one or small group instruction, catering to students' abilities and learning styles.
  • You will collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusion and differentiated learning strategies.
  • You will communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for success.
  • You will maintain detailed records of student performance and interventions, ensuring data-driven decision making.
  • You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices.
Requirements:
  • You must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • You must be certified or licensed in Special Education, adhering to local regulations.
  • You must have experience working with students with disabilities such as autism, learning disabilities, or emotional challenges.
  • You must possess knowledge of educational strategies, therapies, and assistive technologies.
  • You must demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • You must be able to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), speech therapy, or occupational therapy would be an asset.
  • Experience with inclusive classroom settings would enhance your application.
  • Familiarity with legal and ethical guidelines in special education is highly desirable.
