Job Title: AVP-Legal

Role Summary/Objective

The key member of the Legal leadership team will be a senior lawyer responsible for all aspects of legal affairs.

This role involves significant interaction with senior management, providing strategic advice on various legal issues, managing external counsels, and leading internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing legal counsel on a broad range of matters, influencing business decisions.
  • Assisting in litigation strategy and managing relationships with external counsel.
  • Overseeing the legal aspects of company operations.
Further Responsibilities
  • Corporate Deals: Leading equity transactions to closure.
  • Contracts: Drafting, negotiating, and finalizing contracts with third-party vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions/Corporate Finance: Defending corporate funding and asset sale transactions.
Additonal Responsibilities
  • Business Acquisition: Supporting bids, reviewing bid documents, issuing risk analyses, addressing queries, and conducting due diligence.
  • Policy Advocacy: Providing general legal advice on strategy and interpreting draft regulations.
Requirements
  • Law degree from a reputable institution.
  • At least 15 years of experience in multinational companies, preferably in power, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
Desired Characteristics
  • Sound commercial understanding of the power and energy business.
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in law, excellent business acumen, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
