Job Description

The Vice Chancellor of a Medical University serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Head, leading with purpose, vision, and heart. This role oversees a wide range of responsibilities from academics and research excellence to operations including financial leadership, student experience, success, and well-being.

The position requires strategy and innovation while building strong teams, nurturing talent, and ensuring students and faculty thrive in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the university's strategy, vision, and direction to align with global standards and emerging trends in education and healthcare.
  • Research and Innovation: Foster a vibrant research culture by supporting faculty and students in scholarly activities, publishing, and securing research funding.
  • Institutional Governance: Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and oversee the functioning of statutory bodies.
  • External Engagement: Represent the university at national and international platforms to build visibility and reputation.
  • Student Success: Champion student welfare, mentoring, career readiness, and holistic development.

Qualifications:

  • A distinguished academician with teaching experience in a reputable institution.
  • A medical Doctor or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from a premier institution with experience in academic education, research, curriculum development, administration, and management is required.
  • Minimum 10+ Years of experience as a professor or equivalent positions held in a university system or reputed research or academic administrative organizations is required.
  • Proven expertise in steering an institution toward top rankings and accreditations.
  • Must have significant leadership experience in developing and executing a strategic vision; a persuasive and sophisticated communicator who can advance the institution's reputation.
  • An inspirational leader with intellectual breadth, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated expertise in research-driven programs and policies, experience developing and leveraging partnerships, and success leading diverse, complex teams and organizations.
