Job Summary

The Amherst Merchant Banking business unit oversees investment management activities, including debt and equity capital raising, new venture formation, home acquisition, disposition, and portfolio investment management. The Merchant Banking division collaborates closely with other Amherst business units within a fully integrated platform.

A highly motivated individual is sought to play a key role in the execution of investor reporting, shareholder communication, and stakeholder engagement for single-family rental (SFR) properties. This team member will work closely with institutional investors, articulate strategy and performance, and serve as subject matter experts in various areas, including venture strategy, asset management, debt optimization, cash management, financial reporting, valuation, and attribution.

Responsibilities
  • Generate operational reports for SFR portfolios delivered externally to joint-venture institutional investors.
  • Refresh report exhibits in Excel-generated templates, reconcile results, ensure accuracy and completeness of operational metrics, and maintain compliance with contractual guidelines.
  • Develop analysis, identify and correct data errors, and maintain inventory of investor reports.
  • Assist Senior Portfolio Managers in maintaining and improving complex portfolio investment and fund-level models.
  • Build and maintain portfolio/financial models, including cash flow projections, fund-level waterfalls, IRR calculations, DCF/NPV valuations.
  • Evaluate and clarify investor requests, offer alternative solutions, and perform deep dives into operational metrics.
  • Provide guidance to team members and lead on complex deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to centralize, eliminate, or automate activities.
Requirements
  • Education: MBA/CA/CFA with financial markets understanding a plus.
  • Experience: 4-7 years in Financial Services and/or Real Estate firms preferred.
  • Highly analytical mindset.
  • Technical skills in MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and SQL.
  • Proven time management ability, managing multiple simultaneous projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
