Linux Support Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux support engineer to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for providing level 2 and level 3 support for our Linux systems in a mission-critical banking environment.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of our Linux infrastructure. You will troubleshoot complex incidents, manage approved platform changes, and conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents.

You will also be responsible for tuning configurations, scheduling jobs to enhance performance and reliability, and coordinating vendor TAC cases, firmware/patch planning, and validating post-change health.

A strong understanding of ITIL processes, including incident/change/problem/knowledge management, is essential for this role. You should have excellent documentation skills, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with stakeholders.

In addition, you will demonstrate an ownership mindset with readiness for 24x7 support and on-call rotation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in Linux support (L2) or 10+ years (L3)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux virtualization, RHEL, CentOS, Debian GNU, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
