Data Protection Specialist

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing backup operations to ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability across all systems. The incumbent will lead a team of backup administrators and support staff to guarantee high system availability and performance.
- Develop and enforce backup policies, schedules, and procedures aligned with business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to meet data protection and retention requirements.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day backup operations, monitoring jobs and resolving issues in a timely manner. This includes maintaining comprehensive documentation of backup configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal data retention policies and audit requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to optimize backup performance, cost, and reliability.
- Provide regular reporting on backup status, capacity usage, and risk assessments.
Requirements:
We are seeking an experienced professional with 10-12 years of experience in backup management. The successful candidate will have knowledge of integrated IT backup solutions and manufacturing IT domain (OT IT). Additionally, they should have experience working with distributed IT teams and strong leadership skills.
- Mandatory knowledge of backup management, VMware, server hardware management, SLA tracking, basic network management, project management, and pharma compliance 21CFR part 11.
