Process Optimization Lead

This is a senior-level position responsible for leading and directing process engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of projects.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develops process design basis and philosophies based on project scope.
  • Executes FEED jobs in petrochemical fields, specifically phenol and cumene.
  • Reviews and performs process simulations, guiding junior engineers to develop heat and mass balances as required.
  • Experience in developing PFDs, PSFDs, P&IDs, C&EDs, and safe charts.
  • Skilled in routine process calculations (hydraulics and sizing) and proficient in using process software and in-house developed spreadsheets.
  • Knowledgeable in process control configurations and ESD systems, equipment designs such as separators, pumps, compressors, and gas treatment units.
  • Familiarity with fired heaters, heat exchangers, columns, and experience with steam, instrument air, plant air, nitrogen, fuel gas/oil systems, water systems (cooling water, chilled water, potable water treatments, DM water, wastewater) design.
  • Experience with relief valve and flare load calculations, utility balance, UFD, and summary for all utilities of a process plant.
  • Knowledge of offsites including tank farms, boilers, and power generation.
  • Awareness of international standards, codes, specifications, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate project execution, coordinating with peers and subordinates from other engineering departments.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to performance guarantees, vendor packages scope, and review vendor offers.
  • Evaluate vendor/consultant/licensor offers for process packages/equipment and specialized process engineering studies.
  • Familiarity with safety studies like HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and knowledge of pre-commissioning/commissioning/operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 15-20 years of experience.
  • Proficient in process engineering software (HYSYS, Flarenet, Pipenet, Pipesim).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, offshore, and utilities/offsites industries.
