Role Overview

  • This position is responsible for leading the implementation of technical excellence in all projects, focusing on fire systems engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise the level of technical competence within the teams by implementing delivery and quality measurement processes.
  • Promote technical excellence in all our projects by undertaking technical reviews, peer reviews, checks and contributing to the design.
  • Provide continuous feedback to the Local Head of CRC on the effectiveness of the protocols and processes in place with a view to continuous improvement.
  • Develop positive professional relationships with the team, communicating openly about project progress.
  • Supervise, coordinate and support other project Engineers and CAD Technicians.
  • Ensure that Health Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met within the design.
  • Participate in Project meetings, team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in WSP.
  • Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes.
  • Manage delegated tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leader.
  • Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Managing Fire Engineering services on projects of all scales.
  • Preparing fee proposals and project management for iCRC scope of works and also support on the ZA bids.
  • Developing fire strategies for stations and associated ancillary buildings from concept stage to construction - code-compliant solutions and Fire Engineering designs.
  • Working knowledge of data center projects is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in all local fire safety codes is key to carry out code compliant fire safety designs.
  • Fire Risk Assessments for Compliance with relevant Fire Safety Codes.
  • To undertake Fire Risk Assessments or Site Audits when necessary.
  • Liaising with internal design teams to develop fire engineering designs.
  • Taking a proactive approach in developing the projects and working with the design team.
  • Must have knowledge on software's like AutoCAD, MEP Revit other drafting software's.
  • Design specification of fire safety systems such as fire alarm and detection, fire suppression systems and facilities for firefighter intervention (fire hydrant designs).
