Database Administrator Role

This position is responsible for the effective management and maintenance of SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery Solutions: Installation and configuration of SQL Servers for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Security Patching: Apply patches and service packs for SQL Server to ensure latest security fixes.
  • Issue Resolution: Configure automated alerts for issue notifications and troubleshoot incidents.
  • Maintenance Planning: Maintenance planning for backups, database integrity checks, rebuild index, update statistics, and job execution.
  • Troubleshooting Locking Issues: Troubleshooting locking issues, deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts, and fixing them.
  • High-Availability Solutions: Hands-on experience with Always On and DB Mirroring for high-availability solutions.
  • Database Schema Changes: Execute all changes of db schema and maintain a controlled development database environment.
  • Server Optimization: Collaborate with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands.
  • Deployment: Deployment of database objects to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Production Support: Providing day-to-day support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases, identifying root causes, and working with developers to resolve production problems.
  • Performance Tuning: Performance tuning through creating missing indexes.
  • Shift Work: Willingness to work in 24X7 projects (shifts) and experience in scripting using perl, power shell.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hold any of the following certifications: SQL Server certifications or experience in SQL Cloud-based solutions.
