Job Description:

In this role, you will learn how to ensure the reliability and performance of high-performance computing (HPC) systems. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and develop skills in managing and optimizing HPC systems.

Main Responsibilities:

">
  • HPC System Operations and Maintenance
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining operational uptime of HPC clusters and systems
  • Learn to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in compute nodes, storage, and interconnects
  • Automation and Scripting
  • Support efforts to automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages like Python or Bash
  • Collaborate with the team on developing tools to streamline HPC system administration
  • Monitoring and Incident Management
  • Help set up and optimize monitoring tools
  • Participate in incident response processes, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Collaboration and Support
  • Work closely with senior engineers to support HPC users in running and troubleshooting workloads
  • Document processes, runbooks, and solutions to assist other team members and HPC users
  • Learning and Development
  • Participate in on-the-job training and educational programs to understand HPC environments and tools
  • Stay updated on trends in HPC, cloud integration, and site reliability engineering

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of Linux operating systems, e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu
  • Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Bash, or C
  • Knowledge of fundamentals in networking, e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, and system administration
  • Enthusiasm for High Performance Computing, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a team and follow guidance from senior team members
