Job Description

The role of the Operational Resilience Risk Specialist is a crucial component within an organization's risk management framework. This position reports to the Operational Resilience Risk Manager, who oversees the Global Operational Resilience function.

Operational Resilience refers to an organization's ability to prevent, respond to, recover from, and learn from operational disruptions. The goal is to ensure business continuity and minimize the impact of disruptions on the organization.

This specialist will be responsible for partnering with stakeholders to identify and assess risks, developing strategies to mitigate these risks, and implementing controls to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise on Operational Resilience, Business Continuity Management, and Crisis Management
  • Developing and implementing key program components across required workstreams, including Governance, Business Continuity, and Crisis Management
  • Managing crisis as required within the Crisis Management model
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarizing oneself with managing and/or developing Risk Appetite and Controls frameworks

Required Skills and Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of risk management experience, preferably in a financial or consultancy firm. Demonstrable experience of operational resilience, business continuity, and crisis management lifecycle. Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent qualification/work experience in Risk, Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics is beneficial.

Demonstrable success in managing and operating in a matrix environment that encompasses functional and geographical diversity. Proven track record in operating a measurements-based culture leading to continual improvement. Ability to analyse regulatory, audit, and programme requirements and build in required changes to book of work.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential. Strong PowerPoint skills. Strong influencing, problem-solving, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

As a 2nd Line of Defence Risk Type Controller, the Operational Resilience team is also required to help the business to identify, assess, manage, and report on business process disruption risk where appropriate. Through regular engagement with all divisions, the team will also perform oversight and challenge, as well as veto where required.

Time management will be critical in this role, as the successful candidate will often need to deal with multiple priorities and should therefore be highly organised and able to multi-task.
