A Systemic Role Awaits

Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in shaping the backend of a live, regulated financial platform being built across the Middle East. The successful candidate will be part of a lean team where the frontend is further along than the backend and the goal is to catch up.

This is a full-time contract role (initial 3 months, possible extension) focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs all powering a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.

The role requires immediate availability as the client will only consider candidates who are immediately available (within 1 week of offer).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in financial services.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Building and extending backend services using TypeScript/Node.js.
  2. Writing transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g. onboarding, withdrawals).
  3. Designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries.
  4. Integrating with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT).
  5. Improving existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.
  6. Collaborating via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.
