We are seeking an experienced data engineer to lead our database migration projects. The successful candidate will have strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Sybase, as well as proficiency in T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, and writing/debugging complex stored procedures.
About the Role:
- Review and validate large volumes of stored procedures post-migration to ensure functionality and data integrity.
- Analyze outcomes of migrations (Sybase - SQL Server, SQL Server - PostgreSQL) to identify gaps or issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Refactor stored procedures for optimal compatibility and performance in the target environment.
- Investigate query execution times and resource usage; apply best practices for improvement.
- Partner with database architects, developers, and QA teams to ensure alignment and consistency across environments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of stored procedure changes, validation outcomes, and performance benchmarks for compliance and audit purposes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering or database development.
- Strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Sybase.
- Proficient in T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, and writing/debugging complex stored procedures.
- Proven experience with database migration projects and post-migration validation.
- Familiarity with ETL pipelines, data modeling, and version control (Git or similar).
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automated testing/validation frameworks for stored procedures.
- Knowledge of cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in regulated industries with a focus on audit-compliant documentation.
