Product Design Engineer

Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for electromechanical products, specifically valve actuators. Lead the design process from requirements capture to production release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the full design lifecycle, including requirements analysis, concept generation, CAD modeling, simulation, prototyping, testing, and release.
  • Ability to handle product improvement requests and BAU tasks for product range maintenance.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems into robust and optimized designs.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and design for manufacturability (DFM) for casting, injection molding, machining, and sheet metal.
  • Apply finite element analysis (FEA) simulation to validate designs prior to prototyping.
  • Design and specify machine elements, springs, gears, bearings, and integrate off-the-shelf components.
  • Create and execute verification and validation plans, define test cases, and set up bespoke test rigs for performance evaluation.
Qualifications:
  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 7-8 years in mechanical electromechanical product design, preferably in industrial or automation sectors.
Core Technical Skills:
  • CAD modeling with Solid Edge, Creo, or SolidWorks.
  • Advanced assembly modeling, parametric design, and FEA simulation.
  • VB scripting for automation.
Design Practices:
  • GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/ DFA.
  • Material selection, sealing and fastening systems.
Design Processes:
  • Knowledge of DFSS tools like FMEA, Pugh Matrix, QFD, Kano analysis, and benchmarking.
Manufacturing Knowledge:
  • Understanding of basics of casting, plastic injection molding, fabrication, and machining.
Product Knowledge:
  • Electric actuators, fluid power actuators, and gearboxes in the field of flow control.
Systems Knowledge:
  • Electromechanical integration, hydraulic pneumatic systems, analog digital device interfacing.
Testing & Validation:
  • Bespoke test equipment design, instrumentation, data acquisition device selection, and root cause analysis.
Documentation:
  • Engineering drawings, BOM compliance documentation, and release packages.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong systems thinking for multidisciplinary product design.
  • Proactive problem solver with analytical rigor and creativity.
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
  • Ownership-driven, deadline-focused, and adaptable in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative team player with a continuous learning mindset.
