Job Description

Governance Strategy and Stakeholder Alignment

A Data Governance Strategist will develop and maintain enterprise data governance strategies, policies, and standards. The role requires alignment of governance with business goals: compliance, analytics, and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will collaborate across business, IT, legal, and compliance teams for role alignment. They will also drive governance training, awareness, and change management programs.

Microsoft Purview Administration & Implementation

A Data Governance Strategist manages Microsoft Purview accounts, collections, and RBAC aligned to org structure. They will optimize Purview setup for large-scale environments (50TB+).

They will integrate with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, SQL DB, Power BI, Snowflake. Scans will be scheduled, classification jobs set, and collection hierarchies maintained.

Metadata & Lineage Management

A Data Governance Strategist designs metadata repositories and maintains business glossaries and data dictionaries. Ingestion workflows will be implemented via ADF, REST APIs, PowerShell, Azure Functions.

Lineage mapping (ADF ? Synapse ? Power BI) and impact analysis will be ensured.

Data Classification & Security Governance

A Data Governance Strategist defines classification rules and sensitivity labels (PII, PCI, PHI). They will integrate with MIP, DLP, Insider Risk Management, and Compliance Manager.

Records management, lifecycle policies, and information barriers will be enforced.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance and data management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Purview and Informatica data governance tools.
  • Strong in metadata management, lineage mapping, classification, and security.
  • Experience with ADF, REST APIs, Talend, dbt, and automation via Azure tools.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX and related compliance needs.
  • Skilful in bridging technical governance with business and compliance goals.
