Job Title: Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data protection specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to work with a global company and make a significant impact on data protection and privacy matters.

The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance and counseling on data protection and privacy issues, including US federal and state laws, international laws, compliance obligations, AI, and data privacy in contracts.

The role involves protecting our growing business and the students we serve by proactively managing privacy regulations and risks internationally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic legal guidance and counseling on data protection and privacy matters.
  • Support the development and implementation of our global data protection and privacy program.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders and provide subject matter expertise, advice, and trainings related to data protection legal and compliance obligations.
  • Assist with and monitor compliance with our data protection and privacy policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Raise awareness and help create and deliver effective training and guidance to teams across the organization to promote best practices and drive a data protection and privacy-oriented culture.
  • Assist with data governance and compliance efforts, such as preparing and overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), and other data protection and privacy compliance documentation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise advice and support on our AI governance and compliance efforts in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Advises on appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect and safeguard personal data, with an emphasis on student data.
  • Support customer conversations as they apply to data protection, privacy, and AI, and assists with company vendor contract diligence.
