Job Title: Patent Drafting and Prosecution Leader

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, along with excellent technical and legal drafting abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patent Drafting & Prosecution: Independently draft high-quality patent applications in the US, EP, and India, and prepare and review responses to office actions from the respective patent offices.
  • Project & Team Management: Lead a team of senior associates/associates on drafting and prosecution assignments, review drafts prepared by team members, and provide detailed feedback for improvement.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with inventors, in-house counsel, and R&D teams to capture technical inventions, provide strategic advice on patentability, prosecution, and portfolio development, and maintain strong client communication to ensure satisfaction.
  • Quality & Process Development: Establish best practices for patent drafting and prosecution, provide training and mentorship to team members for professional growth, and continuously improve processes for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science/information technology/engineering (preferred) or law (desirable).
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution with a law firm or IP services company, hands-on experience in drafting patent applications and preparing responses to office actions for the US, EP, and India.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of patent laws and prosecution practices across the US, EP, and India, excellent technical and legal drafting skills, ability to lead, mentor, and review work of junior team members, strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and client-facing experience with global stakeholders.
