Supply Chain Manager Role

The Supply Chain Manager position is critical for overseeing end-to-end supply chain functions. This role includes production planning and control, sourcing, inventory management, logistics, and scrap management.

A Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective manufacturing operations by planning, procuring, producing scheduling, inventory, and logistics.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning & Scheduling:
    • Align material availability with the production plan to ensure zero downtime.
    • Collaborate with production, sales, and planning teams for demand forecasting and capacity planning.
    • Monitor daily and weekly production plans and adjust schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Procurement & Supplier Coordination:
    • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables.
    • Coordinate with procurement and approved vendors to track purchase orders, delivery timelines, and quality compliance.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
    • Monitor stock ageing, non-moving inventory, and initiate timely disposal or consumption plans.
    • Ensure regular physical stock audits and reconciliation with system records.
  • Warehousing & Logistics:
    • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure on-time deliveries.
    • Manage warehouse operations, space utilization, and storage safety.
    • Ensure proper documentation, dispatch scheduling, and coordination with transporters.
  • Cost & Process Optimization:
    • Identify and implement initiatives to reduce logistics, inventory carrying, and procurement costs.
    • Drive process improvements using lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Track and improve key SCM KPIs like inventory turnover, delivery accuracy, and material yield.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental health and safety norms, and statutory regulations.
    • Conduct regular training and audits to uphold safety and operational standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SCM team.
    • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and development plans for the team.
    • Foster collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.
