Job Overview:

Automation Engineer Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the design, configuration and deployment of industrial control systems across manufacturing operations
  2. Architect and implement real-time data acquisition, visualization and reporting solutions
  3. Ensure seamless integration of OT systems with enterprise IT systems
  4. Develop and maintain secure, efficient data exchange using standard protocols
  5. Manage industrial databases for high availability and performance
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system capabilities with production and business needs
  7. Provide technical leadership in digital transformation initiatives
  8. Troubleshoot, optimize and support existing automation deployments to ensure minimal downtime
  9. Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the engineering team

Requirements:

  • Strong background in industrial automation functions (production tracking, OEE, downtime analysis, traceability, etc.)
  • Proficiency with database technologies (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with OT/IT integration technologies
  • Expertise in standard communication protocols (REST APIs, MQTT, OPC UA)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMIs, plant floor connectivity)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ISA95, ISA88, ISA99, IEC 62443)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms for industrial IoT applications
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in OT environments
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for automation deployments
  • Experience in working on large-scale digital transformation projects
  • Certifications (OPC UA, Ignition Gold Certified Specialist, or relevant industrial IT/OT certifications)
