Principal Associate - Intellectual Property Rights


Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Associate to lead and manage key IP-related matters including prosecution, litigation, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in both Indian and international IP laws, a client-centric approach, and the ability to guide a team of legal associates and interns.

This role involves handling end-to-end IPR matters including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs. We advise clients on IP strategy, protection, enforcement, and commercialization. Our team drafts, reviews, and files IP applications (national & international), oppositions, assignments, and licensing agreements. We represent clients in IPR litigation and enforcement actions, including appearing before IPO, IPAB, and courts. Additionally, we conduct IP due diligence, freedom to operate (FTO), and infringement analysis. This role also involves liaising with external counsels, authorities, and international associates for cross-border IP matters. Furthermore, we lead and mentor junior team members, ensuring knowledge development and quality delivery. Lastly, we stay updated with emerging trends, legal amendments, and case laws related to IPR.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Law (LL.B / LL.M). Registered Patent Agent is a plus.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in IP law, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Strong legal drafting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-handling abilities.
  • A proven track record in managing complex IPR portfolios and high-stakes litigation.
