Job Description:

As a pivotal member of the finance team, you will play a key role in driving business growth and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Your primary responsibilities will include accounting operations, such as preparing periodic financial statements and reports, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

You will lead and ensure compliance requirements with US and India GAAP, local tax and accounting regulations, and maintain separate books of accounts as per local law. Additionally, you will be responsible for timely closure of all audits, internal or external, and ensure timely filing of statutory reports.

  • Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Lead and ensure compliance requirements with US and India GAAP
  • Prepare periodic financial statements and reports
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Maintain separate books of accounts as per local law
  • Closure of all audits, internal or external
  • Timely filing of statutory reports

Compliance:

  • Maintain and update a compliance calendar for multiple geographies for all applicable laws and compliance requirements
  • Manage vendor invoices, record payments, and ensure tax compliance
  • Review tax filings and assist in preparing necessary tax submissions across India and the US
  • Ensure compliance with periodic filings required by regulatory authorities in India and US
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Transfer Pricing regulations in India, US and any other geographies from time to time

Financial Analysis and Process Set Up:

  • Provide support to the executive team to assess the financial impact of new initiatives
  • Calculate commissions for employees on variable payroll and submit reports to the accounting partner monthly
  • Assist sales and customer service teams in completing vendor forms and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the development of financial accounting systems needed to maintain reporting specifications

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks
  • Deep understanding of India and US GAAP accounting principles and procedures
  • Familiarity with the SaaS business model and key metrics
  • Excellent attention-to-detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex concepts and ideas in a persuasive manner

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Overall experience of about 4-6 years is required
  • Experience working at a funded start-up for 2+ years is nice to have
  • Prior experience hiring/performing annual appraisals and team management is a plus
