Occupational Health Consultant

The role involves leading the occupational health and wellbeing of a diverse workforce in an industrial setting. Key responsibilities include conducting strategic and operational assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements, developing health procedures, establishing referral services, providing guidance to management, and overseeing overall management of OHC.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic: Conduct occupational health hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks at the workplace. Develop and implement general and occupational health procedures and protocols in line with ISO standards and best practices.
  • Operational: Perform pre-employment and periodical medical examinations to ensure worker fitness. Provide first-aid care, including emergency medical treatment. Conduct statutory health check-ups and coordinate visits by certifying surgeons. Maintain medicine stock and inventory, including specific antidotes.
  • Financial: Monitor and control Medical Centre revenue budgets. Propose capital expenditure projects. Prepare revenue budgets.
  • People: Provide referral services with necessary medical advice. Offer occupational health and general health awareness training, including first aid training for employees.

Key skills and qualifications include a MBBS degree and Diploma in Industrial Health (DIH) or Certificate of Training in Industrial Health recognized by state Government. A minimum of 1-8 years experience in managing OHC in an industrial setup is also required.
