Job Title: Sr. Technical Superintendent

Overview:

The Sr. Technical Superintendent is a senior-level role responsible for the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels. The position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Management:
    • Oversee the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels.
    • Develop and implement vessel maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with international regulations and company standards.
  • Vessel Performance:
    • Monitor and manage vessel performance to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Crew Support & Training:
    • Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard staff.
    • Ensure adequate training on new technologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Incident Investigation:
    • Assist in the investigation of technical incidents and accidents.
    • Provide reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of vessel performance, technical incidents, and maintenance schedules.
    • Provide regular reports to management as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) or equivalent seagoing experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical management of ships, preferably in bulk carriers, tankers, offshore vessels, or container ships.
  • Strong knowledge of ship repair, dry docking, and maintenance planning.
  • Familiarity with classification societies, flag state requirements, and international maritime regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using ship management software and MS Office applications.

  • Experience in managing a fleet of vessels and working with multinational crew and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills for budget and cost control.
  • Willingness to travel for ship inspections and attend dry dockings.
