Looking for a Senior AWS Redshift Engineer to support clients in architecting, optimizing, and scaling AWS Redshift environments. Key responsibilities include leading architecture review and validation for multiple clusters, validating sizing assumptions and providing right-sizing recommendations, defining operational excellence best practices, establishing key performance indicators, analyzing and optimizing query performance, and collaborating with client teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters
  • Validate sizing assumptions and provide right-sizing recommendations
  • Define and implement operational excellence best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and health metrics for Redshift platforms
  • Analyze and optimize query performance (workload patterns, schema design, tuning)
  • Establish schema governance and define change management/version control processes
  • Define a clear, auditable process for deploying new tables, columns, and views

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years in data engineering or database engineering/administration, with deep hands-on expertise in AWS Redshift
  • Proven experience in cluster architecture review, sizing, and right-sizing recommendations
  • Strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management
  • Expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals: table design (Distribution and Sort Keys), WLM tuning, vacuum operations, concurrency scaling
  • Ability to develop and implement operational best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills—able to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders
