Senior data engineers are pivotal in propelling innovation and revenue growth within organisations by crafting new applications for major projects. Their role involves being adept at exploring cutting-edge technologies and adapting quickly to the needs of the high-tech marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create high-performance applications in Python, focusing on scalability and efficiency.
  • Design and implement functional requirements, taking ownership of existing applications for further development and improvement.
  • ID areas of improvement in applications/process and research potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and the engineering team to deliver advanced software solutions.
  • Coordinate with other departments and provide technical support as needed.
  • Lead offshore engineering teams, providing technical guidance and fostering innovation.
  • Mentor junior engineers, introducing them to best practices and improving their development output.
  • Participate in code reviews and testing, creating and running unit tests for projects.
  • Analyse large datasets to recommend improvements for maximising customer experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience with Python for application development.
  • 7-10 years of experience with SQL for data analysis and querying.
  • 2-5 years of experience with Bash.
  • Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
