HVAC Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team. As an HVAC Estimator, you will be responsible for creating quotes and responding to inbound queries and requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Product Knowledge: Become proficient with all product offerings, estimating, and e-commerce software tools to provide accurate quotes.
  • Quote Creation: Create detailed quotes and respond to inbound queries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Purchase Order Preparation: Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products, ensuring accuracy in project scope, materials, and specifications.
  • Design Review: Review mechanical drawings for incoming quote requests to ensure accurate bid preparation.
  • Bid Understanding: Understand the scope of HVAC work to bid, including commercial HVAC / Mechanical Contracting requirements.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Communicate with the engineering department on new and current projects to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Job Take-Offs: Prepare comprehensive job take-offs, ensuring accuracy in project scope, materials, and specifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Commercial HVAC / Mechanical Contracting: Strong understanding of commercial HVAC / Mechanical Contracting principles and practices.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate effectively to secure business opportunities.
  • Bidding Software: Knowledge of bidding software to create accurate and competitive bids.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Budgeting and Scheduling: Ability to develop budgets and time lines to manage project timelines.
  • Multi-Tasking: Multi-tasker and organized to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Customer Service: Great customer service and a team attitude to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail an asset to ensure accurate quote creation and bid preparation.
  • Experience in HVAC Estimating: Minimum of 2-3 years experience in HVAC estimating required.
  • Self-Starter: Self-starter with strong work ethic to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable in Building and Construction: Knowledgeable in building and construction to understand project scope and requirements.
