Database Systems Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Database Systems Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with expertise in PostgreSQL and Linux environments.

This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale databases, as well as ensuring scalability, reliability, and availability in production environments.

  • Database Administration: Administer and maintain large-scale PostgreSQL databases, utilizing timesqldb utilities for proactive performance management.
  • Query Optimization: Perform query optimization, database tuning, and indexing strategies for high-performance applications.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and monitor database backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Security and Access: Manage database security, roles, and access privileges.
  • Troubleshooting: Work with development teams to troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Performance Management: Utilize timesqldb, toolkit, and monitoring utilities for proactive performance management.
  • Scalability and Availability: Ensure database scalability, reliability, and availability in production environments.
  • Upgrades and Patching: Support upgrades, patching, and migration activities.

Mandatory Skills:

  • PostgreSQL Expertise: 8+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
  • Performance Optimization: Strong experience in performance optimization & query tuning.
  • Linux Environment: Hands-on experience in Linux / openSUSE environment.
  • timesqldb Utilities: Proven work with timesqldb and related toolkit utilities.
  • Large Database Handling: Ability to handle large databases (1000–2000 GB).

Good to Have:

  • Replication and Partitioning: Knowledge of replication, partitioning, and clustering.
  • Automation and Scripting: Experience in automation and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools.
