As a seasoned Database Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing scalable data architectures to meet the evolving needs of our business.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of database performance, availability, and security across multiple platforms.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration & Operations
    • Maintain, monitor, and tune production and staging MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure optimal performance and high uptime.
    • Develop and implement high-availability strategies, manage backups and restores, and design replication and disaster recovery processes.
    • Collaborate with development teams to ensure that database systems meet the required service level agreements (SLAs).
  • AWS Cloud Expertise
    • Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances to ensure seamless integration with cloud-based services.
    • Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools to identify areas for improvement.
  • Data Architecture & Design
    • Work closely with engineering teams to develop new database schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
    • Implement best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Ensure that data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies and industry standards.
    • Support GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 initiatives by implementing appropriate database controls and evidence collection procedures.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring
    • Provide expert guidance to developers and DevOps teams on database-related matters during code reviews and deployments.
    • Share knowledge and mentor junior DBAs to improve documentation and internal tooling.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in database administration and operations, with a focus on MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Expertise in AWS cloud services, including RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and design principles, including database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management.
  • Experience with database security and compliance, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
