Freelance Data Scientist – Healthcare Claims

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst/Scientist to leverage analytical expertise and domain knowledge to uncover insights, build predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making in the healthcare space. This is a freelance opportunity that will involve working with large-scale claims and provider datasets.

The ideal consultant will have a strong background in SQL, Python, and healthcare claims/provider data, as well as proficiency in statistical methods and machine learning techniques. They will be responsible for extracting, cleaning, and analyzing data, developing and optimizing SQL queries, building dashboards and reports, and collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements and ensure data accuracy.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Extract, clean, and analyze large-scale claims and provider datasets.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL scripts for data extraction and transformation.
  • Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to generate actionable insights.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and ensure data accuracy.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities in healthcare data to support operational and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience working with healthcare claims and provider data.
  • Advanced SQL expertise (data manipulation, aggregation, performance tuning).
  • Strong Python skills with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HIPAA, ICD, CPT, NPI) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to work in fast-paced environments.
