Senior Economist

We are seeking a skilled Senior Economist to join our team in Davangere. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for performing in-depth research and analytics, focusing on Indian markets across policy spectrum and various macro indicators.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our Macro Strategist and interact regularly with the wider team across the firm. You will have the opportunity to build and maintain econometric models, analyze macroeconomic data, and monitor global economic developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain advanced econometric models to forecast future trends and risks.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of macroeconomic data to identify economic trends and themes.
  • Monitor and assess global economic developments and their potential impact on markets.
  • Write and publish research commentary to accompany data analysis and discuss market drivers.
  • Work on macro and market projects relevant to the Indian market, conduct secondary research as needed, and handle ad hoc requests.

Requirements:

  • Masters in Economics/MBA/CFA or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of post-qualification work experience as an Economic Analyst/Macro Strategist/Junior Economist, dealing primarily with modeling work and research analysis.
  • Keen interest in global financial markets and knowledge of recent developments.
  • Strong quantitative and mathematical skills with experience working with large amounts of data.
  • Advanced Excel, VBA analytical skills, and knowledge of econometrics. Working knowledge of Python or R is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to write research reports and comment on market developments.
  • Knowledge of database tools – Macrobond, CEIC, World Bank, CME, and other financial databases; various central bank (RBI) and statistical websites.
  • Prior experience of macro research or equity research in Indian markets is a plus.
  • Ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines, manage multiple research projects without support/supervision, and handle fast-moving economic developments.
