Senior SQL Database Administrator

Job Overview:

Our organization is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to lead and execute database upgrade projects, design and manage Always On Availability Groups, and plan database migrations to AWS with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee SQL Server upgrade projects, including migration from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022.
  • Design and configure Always On Availability Groups in production environments to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Plan and implement database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) to meet business needs.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server performance to ensure optimal system operation.
  • Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams for database reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures, to support team knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate compliance with security standards and best practices to ensure a secure database environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience upgrading SQL Server to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and HA/DR solutions to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration to meet business needs.
  • T-SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization skills to ensure optimal system operation.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security to ensure data integrity.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or automation tools for database administration is a plus.
