Job Title: Senior SQL Database Administrator

This senior-level position involves overseeing the installation, configuration, and management of SQL databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patching hierarchy and clarity on SQL build numbers and internal database build numbers.
  • Upgrading/migrating SQL Server from older versions to newer versions.
  • Configuring linked servers between same/different SQL Server versions.
  • Setting up contained databases for effective migrations.
  • Fine-tuning backups using encryption, compression, and special parameters.
  • Handling master, model, msdb, tempdb, and resource database corruptions.
  • Configuring high-availability and disaster recovery solutions like log shipping, mirroring, clustering, always-on AG, and replication.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Windows cluster, quorum, dynamic quorum, voting mechanism, failovers through cluster administrator and commands.
Mandatory Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of SQL server architecture, T-SQL, triggers, and procedures.
  • Administration and configuration of HA/DR solutions – clustering, always-on group etc.
  • Configuration and management of all types of replication and troubleshooting.
  • Patch management.
  • Always-on AG scenarios – failover.
  • Server capacity monitoring, analysis, and tuning activities.
  • Automation using scripts and tools in the area of backup, monitoring, resource utilization, HA alerts, capacity plan management.
  • SQL server tuning.

This role requires a strong background in SQL server architecture and experience with Windows clustering, replication, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
