Senior Magento Backend Developer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing custom modules, integrating third-party systems and optimizing backend performance of an eCommerce platform.

  • Design, develop and maintain custom Magento 2 modules and features.
  • Develop and integrate APIs for third-party systems (payment gateways, shipping, ERP, CRM etc).
  • Manage and optimize Magento backend processes such as product imports, catalog management, checkout flow and order processing.
  • Work with frontend developers to deliver fully integrated solutions.
  • Ensure high performance, scalability and security of backend systems.
  • Write clean, reusable and well-documented PHP code following Magento coding standards.
  • Perform regular code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with QA for testing and debugging issues.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot backend performance and server-side issues.
  • Implement caching strategies (e.g Varnish, Redis) and indexing.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in backend development with 26 years of experience in Magento 2. They will also have expertise in PHP, MySQL and Magento 2 architecture, experience with Magento 2 module development, customization and extension integration, and in-depth knowledge of Magento APIs (REST/SOAP), Magento CLI and Composer.

They will also have strong understanding of Magentos EAV model, database structure and custom entity creation, experience with version control tools like Git, knowledge of performance optimization, indexing and caching strategies, understanding of security best practices for eCommerce platforms and familiarity with Linux environments, basic shell scripting and cron jobs.

Preferred qualifications include the Magento 2 Backend Developer Certification, experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines or cloud deployment, exposure to ElasticSearch, Varnish and Redis, experience integrating with systems like ERP, CRM or POS, and familiarity with Agile development practices and tools like JIRA, Bitbucket etc.

The candidate should have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent practical experience.
