Master Data Specialist

The role of Master Data Specialist is critical in ensuring data consistency and compliance across laboratory operations. This specialist will be responsible for reviewing source documentation, creating master data objects, and ensuring that data accuracy and consistency are maintained.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing source documentation for master data objects such as laboratory methods and analysis
  • Creating/building master data objects in the LIMS, including test methods, specifications, sample plans, and instruments
  • Producing builds in an iterative manner to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Conducting demo/review sessions with key stakeholders to provide support and answer questions from business teams
  • Evaluating data accuracy and consistency, and ensuring compliance with internal SOPs and external regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO)
  • Supporting LIMS validation activities, including documentation and testing to ensure seamless integration
  • Troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues within the LIMS to minimize downtime

Requirements for this position include:

  • 2+ years of experience working with LIMS platforms (ideally Lab Vantage, at a minimum Lab Ware, STARLIMS, Thermo Fisher Sample Manager)
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and data management principles to maintain high levels of data quality
  • Experience with master data configuration for LIMS systems to ensure seamless integration
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills to resolve complex data-related issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotech, food safety) to understand the importance of data compliance
  • Knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory frameworks to ensure adherence to industry standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field to demonstrate foundational knowledge
