We are seeking a highly skilled professional to support our global operations and advise on data protection matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of global data protection laws, with a strong emphasis on US state and federal student data privacy laws.

This role serves as the key point of contact for general data protection, privacy, and security-related matters. This includes evolving and maintaining our global privacy program and compliance efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic legal guidance on a broad spectrum of privacy and data protection issues
  • Supporting the development and implementation of our global data protection and privacy program
  • Partnering with stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise, advice, and training
  • Assisting with and monitoring compliance with data protection and privacy policies, processes, and procedures
  • Raising awareness and creating effective training and guidance to promote best practices and drive a data protection and privacy-oriented culture

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of global data protection laws
  • Expertise in advising on complex data protection matters, particularly related to FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, etc.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and establish effective solutions efficiently
  • Superior analytical and research skills
  • Maintains confidentiality to the utmost degree

Education and experience requirements include:

  • LLB or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Enrollment with a State Bar Council under the Bar Council of India and/or passing the All-India Bar Examination, and/or member of the bar in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction
