Job Description

We are seeking a skilled DMSII Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, including strong knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.

The selected individual will be responsible for performing installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases, as well as monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.

In addition, the successful candidate will manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access, handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures, and support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.

The DBA will also assist in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments, work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues, participate in disaster recovery testing, and implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA

Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks
  • Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII (nice to have)
