Database Specialist Position

Our ideal candidate has 4-6 years of experience in DMSII/Unisys Mainframe environment.

  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases are crucial for efficient data access.
  • Monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes is vital for optimal system functioning.
  • Management of sets, subsets, and indexes requires expertise in database optimization techniques.
  • Database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures are essential for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • SUPPORT schema changes and database reorganizations to ensure seamless data access.
  • Assistance in capacity planning and ensuring data integrity across environments is critical for effective database management.
  • Troubleshooting performance or access issues with application and system teams requires strong analytical skills.
  • Participation in disaster recovery testing and compliance with backup policies ensures high levels of data security.
  • Implementation and maintenance of security, audit trails, and user access controls protect sensitive information.
  • Documentation of DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures improves knowledge sharing and reduces downtime.
Required Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration is required.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools is necessary for efficient database management.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery is crucial for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues requires strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks is necessary for smooth database operations.
