This leadership role is responsible for managing the wholesale risk model development team, collaborating with senior management and board-level committees to drive quantitative model governance and practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish a Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models, providing thought leadership on best practices in model development and validation.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory updates and translate them into actionable model design considerations.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders across the credit lifecycle, preparing presentations and engaging multiple stakeholders.
- Support governance and audit readiness through transparent model documentation and development practices.
- Design and implement end-to-end processes for developing, validating, and managing wholesale rating models.
- Develop and validate Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models and Master Rating Scale calibration.
- Explore new approaches for rating model development, focusing on low default portfolios.
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, driving continuous learning and capability building.
- Determine expected model performance on historical data and implement monitoring tools.
- Regularly review and improve model performance processes based on feedback and evolving business requirements.
- Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with hands-on experience in developing and validating wholesale rating models.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, along with data analysis and visualization skills using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Hold a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10-15 years of progressive risk management experience within the banking sector.
