Lead Wholesale Risk Model Development Team

The primary objective is to lead a team responsible for the development and validation of wholesale rating models, working closely with senior management and board-level committees.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership: Establish and scale a Centre of Excellence for wholesale rating models from scratch, providing thought leadership and contributing to the development of best practices in model development and validation.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare presentations, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, engage with multiple stakeholders across the credit lifecycle, review financial spreading logic in newly developed credit lifecycle systems, and support governance and audit readiness through proper model documentation and transparent development practices.
  3. Technical Delivery: Design and implement end-to-end processes for development, validation, and lifecycle management of wholesale rating models, develop and validate a range of models including corporate/wholesale rating models, explore new approaches for rating model development for low default portfolios, and master rating scale calibration.
  4. Team Management: Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, drive capability building and continuous learning within the team through training, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Risk Management Foundations: Strong understanding of statistics and mathematics, hands-on experience in developing and validating wholesale rating models (PD, LGD, EAD), and a deep understanding of model lifecycle best practices.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong programming skills in languages such as R and Python, proficient in data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint, and knowledge of other relevant tools or platforms would be an advantage.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to apply risk management concepts, analysis, and support to strategic decision-making processes, people, and managerial leadership experience in a matrixed and multi-jurisdictional organization.
  • Certifications and Education: Postgraduate or professional qualifications in risk management or finance, hold a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, quantitative finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
