Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and developing mechanical test benches for aerospace components, creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, and conducting structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical test benches for aerospace components such as actuators, control surfaces, engines, and structural assemblies.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using aerospace-standard design tools (e.g., CATIA and AutoCAD).
  • Integrate sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for high-fidelity testing.
  • Conduct structural, thermal, and vibration analysis using FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN).
  • Ensure designs meet aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, DO-160, MIL-STD).
  • Collaborate with aerospace systems engineers, electrical engineers, and software teams for integrated test solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including BOMs, test procedures, and compliance reports.
  • Understand the customer datapack, create the BOM, and coordinate with manufacturers.
  • Search suitable AVL manufacturers and provide the manufacturing part number (MPN) for COTS items.
  • Provide alternative part number/MPN for COTS_1 due to obsolescence.
  • Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of test benches.
  • Mechanical parts source inspection with all of the mechanical vendors.
  • Support the QC team for mechanical parts inspection, reports evaluation, and collection of supplier inspection reports.
  • RHQ Concept design of test fixture using CAD Tool, man-hours calculation for mechanical work cost estimation of mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize test setups for accuracy, repeatability, and safety.
  • Interface with aerospace suppliers and certification bodies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices.
  • Experience with CAD software (CATIA, AutoCAD) and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN).
  • Ability to integrate sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (AS9100, DO-160, MIL-STD).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
