Cloud Financial Optimization Specialist

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Financial Optimization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our cloud financial management and optimization strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in cloud cost management, cost optimization practices, and cross-functional stakeholder alignment.

You will be responsible for advising on cloud cost management strategies across multiple cloud environments, providing insights into common FinOps use cases, and collaborating with our engineering and product teams to map real-world challenges into product features.

Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Cost Management Strategy Advisor: Advise on cloud cost management strategies across AWS (mandatory), and optionally GCP & Azure.
  • FinOps Use Cases Expert: Provide insights into common FinOps use cases such as showback/chargeback, forecasting, budget guardrails, anomaly detection, rightsizing, and workload optimization.
  • Product Feature Mapper: Collaborate with our engineering and product teams to map real-world challenges into product features.
  • Cost Allocation Expert: Share expertise in cost allocation, tagging strategies, and governance frameworks.
  • Market Analysis: Highlight gaps in current market tools and suggest opportunities for differentiation.
  • FinOps Best Practices Champion: Guide adoption of FinOps best practices in alignment with the FinOps Foundation principles.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3–6+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Cost Optimization, or Cloud Financial Management.
  • Skills: Strong practical expertise in AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, CloudWatch, Trusted Advisor, and Budgets.
  • Certification: FinOps Certified Practitioner / Advanced Practitioner certification is mandatory.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid technical understanding of cloud architecture and usage drivers (compute, storage, networking).
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (Finance and Engineering).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multi-Cloud Experience: Multi-cloud exposure: Azure Cost Management + GCP Billing.
  • Third-Party Tools Expertise: Experience with third-party cost tools (Kubecost, CloudZero, Apptio, CloudHealth, Spot.io, ProsperOps).
  • Automation Frameworks Familiarity: Familiarity with automation frameworks for optimization (Terraform, Kubernetes, policies, schedulers).
  • Security-FinOps Overlap Exposure: Exposure to security-FinOps overlaps (unused IAM, compliance-linked waste, etc.).
