Job Description:

As a PCB CAD Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of PCB CAD libraries. These libraries include schematic symbols, footprints, and parametric data. You will be responsible for generating footprints for SMD, THT, connectors, and complex IC packages as per IPC-7351 standards.

You will validate BOMs, electrical attributes, package information, and component descriptions. Additionally, you will process new part requests using PLM systems and maintain library updates. Your attention to detail will ensure accuracy in pin sequencing and package details, cross-checked with datasheets, schematics, and footprints.

You will collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and compliance. This includes maintaining documentation, following standard naming conventions, and ensuring smooth library integration with ECAD/MCAD tools.

  • Develop and maintain PCB CAD libraries.
  • Generate footprints for various components.
  • Validate BOMs and component descriptions.
  • Process new part requests.
  • Cross-check datasheets, schematics, and footprints.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

CAD Tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics Expedition, OrCAD/Capture CIS

PLM Systems: Windchill, Target PLM, Teamcenter, Cockpit Server

Standards & Compliance:

  • IPC-7351 for footprint creation and validation.
  • RoHS and REACH compliance understanding.

Library Management:

  • Creation and maintenance of schematic symbols, footprints, and 3D models.
  • BOM validation and part numbering systems.
  • Use of footprint calculators like LP Wizard and Footprint Expert.
