Job Title: Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced technical leader to oversee our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving technical direction, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive technical vision and strategy across the organisation including hiring, onboarding, and continuous technical management
  • Lead scaled delivery models through key vendor relationships to provide facilities for delivering engineering excellence
  • Coach engineers to develop technical skills and identify opportunities to build a good engineering competency across the organisation
  • Engage with enterprise web platforms, development toolchains, automation, and business discovery capabilities to help strategise and align technical direction
  • Drive good engineering practices across teams partnering with process engineers to drive strong engineering discipline
  • Identify opportunities to modernise and optimise IT ecosystems
  • Support processes to define, embed, and scale software engineering and platform, including governance and processes
  • Drive new ways of working to engage engineering teams, e.g., leading hackathons
Leadership:
  • Provide strategic leadership for the team, leading all engineering initiatives related to platforms and acting as a respected contact with the wider business
  • Be responsible for leading a team of platform engineers, delegating tasks, and providing guidance and mentorship
  • Work closely with teams and collaborate with other management personnel
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to platform engineers to increase skills and competency
  • Partner with leadership to inform roadmap direction and increase platform engineering efficiency
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Influence application modernisation using languages and frameworks to ensure applications remain modern and efficient
  • Identify opportunities to minimise operational effort required to run SaaS, COTS applications
  • Work with process roles to ensure standards and governance are well understood by vendors and application teams
  • Partner on initiatives to stand up and continually modernise software development processes using CI/CD techniques
  • Establish partnerships with Information Security to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in application estates
Community:
  • Engage with the IT community internally and externally, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Educate others on technical products and help them upskill on web technologies
  • Coach IT Analysts and Engineers to advance their technical acumen
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology directions, guiding the business on how to interpret and leverage them
Innovation:
  • Drive DevSecOps cultures across organisations
  • Identify opportunities to drive efficiency through automation techniques
  • Use modern product approaches to influence business decisions
  • Help stand up innovation squads to facilitate ideation and business idea shaping
