About the Team: The legal team at Paytm facilitates legal risk and compliance centrally, ensuring business activities conform to all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures. We serve as a liaison for local regulators and legal bodies, maintaining relationships with them. Our goal is to ensure local regulatory permissions for Paytm remain current and appropriate for business needs.
About the Role: As a member of the legal Contracts team, you will ensure effective management of legal and contractual matters, identifying and mitigating legal risks for the organization. You will assist senior legal colleagues in special and upcoming projects under the e-commerce and fintech division of Paytm. Your responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, red-lining, negotiating, and finalizing documents from a legal perspective, ensuring minimal/no risk to the organization. You will also resolve contractual issues developed while working with clients, partners, service providers, and vendors. Additionally, you will collaborate with other cross-functional teams for the implementation of special projects across all business verticals in a time-bound manner. You will analyze business requirements/needs, spot issues, and propose/implement solutions. You will adhere to internal frameworks, mandates, and processes. You will be responsible for end-to-end legal management of assigned business transactions, providing general corporate advisory, and assisting senior colleagues in researching and assessing the viability of new proposed business models under applicable e-commerce and FEMA laws. You will analyze and assess business processes and proposed new products, identify issues, and propose pragmatic solutions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, providing timely legal support. You will identify risks in ongoing legal agreements and evaluate and assist in changes to agreement templates and other legal processes for compliance with applicable IT, e-commerce, and privacy laws.
Superpowers/Skills: To succeed in this role, you will need 12+ years of experience in end-to-end contract management, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal team, with experience in fintech or e-commerce startups. You will require strong legal acumen, good interpersonal skills to communicate and coordinate complex issues with diverse levels of management and employees. You will need attention to detail and the ability to work independently and efficiently. You will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic growth-mode environment. You will be proficient with MS Word/MS Office. Experience with a law firm or as an in-house counsel is preferred. A candidate with experience working with a Payments/Banks/Trading Company is highly preferred. You will have good drafting skills and attention to detail. You will be a self-starter and willing to hustle in a start-up environment. You will have a strong hold in assessing and advising on compliance of new business/product models with applicable e-commerce/FEMA/Data Protection/IT laws.
Education: You must be a law graduate, LL.B from a top-tier institute (National Law Schools, DU, ILS, Symbiosis) is preferred.
