Lease Accounting Associate Position

The Lease Accounting Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining and updating lease accounting schedules, ensuring compliance with ASC 842. In this capacity, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of lease-related data, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing solutions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lease accounting schedules that adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Real Estate, Legal, and Accounts Payable, to ensure seamless communication and execution
  • Monitor critical lease dates and deadlines, ensuring timely updates and adherence to company policies
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Accounting Expertise: A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to lease accounting or real estate accounting principles
  • ASC 842 Knowledge: Familiarity with ASC 842 and lease accounting best practices, including technical skills and software proficiency
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and ability to work effectively with large datasets, as well as proficiency in lease accounting software such as Yardi, CoStar, or Lucernex
