Strategic Supplier Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Strategic Supplier Development Manager to join our team. This role will be pivotal in identifying new suppliers and maintaining existing ones for the supply of high-quality machined and fabricated parts.

The ideal candidate will have over 20 years of experience in supplier development, sourcing, and procurement within the machinery manufacturing sector. They should possess strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of the Indian vendor market for machined and fabricated parts with special finishes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Identification and Development:
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with new suppliers across India who can supply machined and fabricated parts with special finishes, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Utilize industry experience and a network to onboard reliable suppliers quickly and effectively.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Maintain strong, productive relationships with existing suppliers, ensuring consistent supply chain reliability and performance.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of supplier performance, addressing any issues related to quality, cost, or delivery timelines.
  • Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for critical parts and sub-assemblies required by machinery manufacturers.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure best possible terms, balancing cost efficiency with quality assurance.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure all supplier-supplied parts meet technical specifications and adhere to industry standards.
  • Implement corrective actions with suppliers as needed to resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Project Leadership:
  • Oversee end-to-end supplier development process, from initial identification to final delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage multiple sourcing projects, prioritizing tasks and resources according to business priorities.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Monitor and analyze sourcing expenditures, continuously seeking opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, logistics, and other internal teams to align supplier development activities with overall business objectives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on supplier performance and sourcing strategies.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree or Master Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • At least 20 years of experience in supplier development, sourcing, and procurement within machinery manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian vendor market for machined and fabricated parts with special finishes.
  • Proven success in managing supplier relationships and sourcing high-quality parts within budgetary and timeline constraints.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with international sourcing practices is advantageous.
