We are looking for a skilled and experienced facilities design specialist to support the development of our data centers and facilities.

Job Description

As a Senior Associate Facilities Design Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring that our data centers and facilities are designed and planned to meet operational and performance requirements. You will lead and oversee the design and layout of data center/facilities, assessing current and future capacity needs to ensure seamless integration of data center systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and planning: Lead and oversee the design and layout of data center/facilities, including server rooms, cooling systems, power distribution, fire suppression, and security systems.
  • Capacity assessment: Assess current and future capacity needs to ensure the data center/facilities can accommodate the growth of IT equipment and infrastructure.
  • System selection: Choose appropriate equipment and systems for power, cooling, and environmental control, ensuring they meet efficiency, redundancy, and scalability requirements.
  • Energy efficiency: Implement energy-efficient design principles and technologies to reduce power consumption and environmental impact.
  • Redundancy and fault tolerance: Design systems with redundancy to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Compliance and regulations: Ensure that the data center/facilities design complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Cost management: Balance design requirements with cost considerations, including capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx).

Collaboration is key: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and architects, to ensure seamless integration of data center systems.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Developing proficiency: Developing proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
  • Industry knowledge: Developing understanding of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data center design and management.
  • Project management: Developing project management skills to oversee the design process from concept to implementation.
  • Communication and collaboration: Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Technical expertise: Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.

Academic qualifications and certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications: Data center specific design certifications such as Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP), Data Centre Energy Practitioner (DCEP), or Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP) are beneficial.
