Patent Drafting and Prosecution Expert

  • About the Role:
  • We seek a seasoned Patent Drafting and Prosecution Expert to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patent Application Drafting: Independently draft high-quality patent applications for US, EP, and India.
  • Office Action Responses: Prepare and review responses to office actions from the USPTO, EPO, and Indian Patent Office.
  • Jurisdiction-Specific Compliance: Ensure all work meets jurisdiction-specific legal and technical requirements.
  • Team Management: Manage and guide a team of Sr. Associates/Associates on drafting and prosecution assignments.
  • Draft Review: Review drafts prepared by team members, providing detailed feedback to improve quality.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee project timelines, workload distribution, and delivery commitments.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with inventors, in-house counsel, and R&D teams to capture technical inventions.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide strategic advice on patentability, prosecution, and portfolio development.
  • Client Communication: Maintain strong client communication and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Best Practices: Establish and implement best practices for patent drafting and prosecution.
  • Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to team members for professional growth.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve processes for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering (preferred).
  • Law Degree: Law degree (desirable).
  • Patent Agent Qualification: Patent agent qualification (must)
  • Experience: 5–8 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution with a law firm or IP services company.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience in drafting patent applications and preparing responses to office actions for US, EP, and India.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience in managing patent professionals or leading projects.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of patent laws and prosecution practices across US, EP, and India.
  • Drafting Skills: Excellent technical and legal drafting skills with attention to detail.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage, mentor, and review work of junior team members.
  • Communication Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Client-Facing Experience: Client-facing experience with global stakeholders.
