Music Educator Required

Teaching music to children with special needs can be a rewarding and challenging experience.

Lady Andal House of Children, a special school in Chennai, offers a unique opportunity for music teachers to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

We are seeking a skilled Music Educator who can design and implement music lessons that cater to diverse learners.

The ideal candidate must have expertise in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices and experience with communication aids.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering music lessons tailored to meet the needs of individual students
  • Utilizing assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation
  • Promoting music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Collaborating with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities
  • Assessing student progress using tailored benchmarks and maintaining accurate records

We require the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani Music or Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • 3 to 7 years of working with children in a mainstream school/ Special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
