Job Summary:

">
  • Capture customer voice and translate it into actionable product development milestones.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct technical reviews, drive process improvements, and foster a culture of innovation.
  • Develop and execute product cost analysis leveraging Value Analysis (VAVE) techniques to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) concepts, tools, and methodologies such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVP-R to drive new product development and existing product enhancements.
  • Create 3D models and drawings of new product designs and modify existing drawings and models to ensure design integrity.
  • Sustain design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents, and data control for the business unit.
  • Build predictive models for product performance parameters and optimize performance.
  • Perform complex engineering assignments involving product design, testing, and compliance to specifications, process studies, or research investigations using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs and serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers resolving technical challenges.
  • Execute prototype builds, performance and durability testing, teardown of prototype samples to evaluate product performance against customer requirements for concept-level ideas as well as detailed design before product launch.
  • Contribute to innovative product solutions by filing high-quality disclosures and patents.
  • Maintain continuous learning and contribute to organizational objectives.
  • Ensure design meets Eaton and customer standards/requirements through quality checks.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as Pro/E or Creo is required, as well as ability to perform and review tolerance stack-up and engineering calculations as required to support design integrity.
  • A good understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) is necessary, and leveraging DFMA principles while working on engineering designs and drawings is expected.
  • The PLM (Enovia) system will be utilized for documentation control and workflow.
  • Deliver right-quality and on-time delivery of drawings and engineering documents.
  • Establish credible communication practices with stakeholders on technical clarifications, testing, and resolution of field failures.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and written with customers, team members, and cross-functional departments.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills are required.
  • Stay current with product engineering technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 6-10 years of experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD tools; preferably ProE/CATIA, and experience with PLM tool ENOVIA, proficiency in electrical motor design.
  • Awareness of engineering designs, drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, application engineering domain.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly know-how.
  • Awareness of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), DMAIC methodology and tools necessary for product engineering.
  • Hard-working ability and desire for excellence in sustaining engineering excellence.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
